‘Life and Teachings of Jesus’ classes next week
The “Life and Teachings of Jesus” will be taught by the Rev. Terry Fowler of Oklahoma at the Wailuku Door of Faith next month.
The sessions will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 5, followed by a potluck lunch.
Tuition costs $150 for three months of courses. The three sessions in October represent one month of course work. Students who want to audit the course pay $50 for three months.

Garage sale set for Saturday in Wailuku
Valley Isle Fellowship and Two Thirds World Network will hold a joint garage sale on Saturday.
The event aims to raise funds to benefit families as part of Valley Isle Fellowship’s call “to love God, love his church and love his world” and Two Thirds World’s Mission Outreach in Southeast Asia.
The garage sale will be held from 7 to 11 a.m. at 473 S. High St. in Wailuku.

Clothing exchange, kids’ fair to be held Saturday
North Shore Church will hold a clothing exchange and free kids’ fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Haiku Elementary School, according to an announcement.
The event is planned to continue on the fourth Saturday of every other month. Future event dates include Nov. 23, Jan. 25 and March 22.
For the clothing exchange, parents and guardians are encouraged to bring their children’s outgrown clothes to trade them for bigger sizes. The keiki fair will include a bouncing ride, games, barbecue food and shave ice.

Construction to begin at Kihei Lutheran Church
Construction of a 3,800-square-foot expansion of the Kihei Lutheran Church is expected to begin next week, according to church Pastor Dave Krueger.
Viking Construction is the general contractor for the approximately $900,000 project to expand the church’s worship area as well as classrooms and meeting areas, Krueger said.
About half of the money needed for the project has been raised, he said, with the other half to be obtained in a loan from the Mission Investment Fund. The fund was established to help Lutheran churches build and expand, he said.
During construction in November, a false wall will be built in the church’s worship area, reducing it by about 40 seats, he said. Because less seating space will be available, the church will have two Sunday services, at 8 and 10:30 a.m.
Construction is expected to be completed by mid-March, Krueger said.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the project was held Sept. 15 as part of the morning worship service.
The church is at the intersection of Piilani Highway and Moi Place.
