The Apostolic Faith Maui Branch Church at 1211 Front St. in Lahaina will hold its biannual youth service at 10 a.m. Sunday.

The youth of the church will be conducting the entire service with the program directed by Cindy Makimoto. The program will consist of songs and instrumentals performed by the youths with 11-year-old Donnelle Leandro, a 6th-grader at Iao Intermediate School, as announcer.

Lee Taylor, the church’s band director, will be preaching the sermon, “The Naaman in all of us.”

The evening service will be at 7 and will be conducted by the adult members of the church. Pastor Kenneth Alverio will preach a spirit-directed sermon.

The church has a weekly telecast at 8 a.m. Sundays on KITV-Channel 4 unless pre-empted by sporting events, pushing the time to 1 p.m.

Soul Space Maui to offer family ministry

Soul Space Maui will offer child and family ministry from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday afternoons beginning Feb. 1.

The second Sunday of the month will include a potluck after the lesson. Rhonda J. Felix will serve as teacher.

Tondo Matsuri at Maui Jinsha

The Tondo Matsuri will begin at 10 a.m. Jan. 31 at Maui Jinsha Mission, 472 Lipo Place, Wailuku.

The Rev. Akihiro Okada of the Daijingu Temple of Hawaii will perform the service. Attendees are invited to bring old oharaisama and omamori to burn.

New Year’s mochi and lunch will be served.

Interfaith service to be held Monday

Faith Action for Community Equity Maui invites the public to attend its annual Martin Luther King Day Interfaith Service at 6 p.m. Monday.

The 90-minute service will take place at Christ the King Church, 20 W. Wakea Ave. in Kahului. The service will feature choirs, scripture readings and a keynote address by the Rev. Paul Sherry, author of the 1993 Apology to Native Hawaiians on behalf of the United Church of Christ.

Sherry is also an accomplished civil rights leader active in the civil rights movement of the 1960s, according to a news release about the event.
