Special Mass set at Kaupo church
In addition to its regularly scheduled Mass on May 29, St. Joseph Mission Church in Kaupo will also celebrate Mass at noon Sunday to observe the Feast Day of St. Joseph the Worker.
The Rev. Arwin Rebollido, pastor of St. Mary’s Church in Hana, will be the celebrant during Mass on both days.
St. Joseph Mission Church is between Mile Markers 33 and 34 on Piilani Highway.
There will be a potluck meal and fellowship after Mass.

Church welcomes guest priest
The Rev. Bruce DeGooyer will be the celebrant and preacher at Trinity-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church at 9 a.m. Sunday.
DeGooyer was ordained a vocational deacon in 2004 in Illinois, where he served at St. Matthew’s Church in Bloomington for eight years. After retirement from his secular work, he was ordained a priest in 2012 and was named curate at St. Matthew’s and provided supply throughout the diocese.
Most recently, DeGooyer served as the supply priest at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Kapaau on the Big Island in early 2014, and returned in 2015 to work with the congregation as it prepared for a new vicar.
The community is invited to both the service and a “Meet and Greet Potluck” afterward. The church is at 100 Kulanihakoi St. in Kihei. For more information, call 879-0161.

National Day of Prayer is Thursday
The Maui Christian Ministers Association is calling all Christians to observe Thursday as the National Day of Prayer at the state building in Wailuku. An event will be held from noon to 1 p.m.
The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman.
The mission of the National Day of Prayer Task Force is to mobilize prayer in America and to encourage personal repentance and righteousness in the culture.
The Rev. James Marocco of King’s Cathedral will emcee the event. Pastors wanting to lead prayer during the observance may call Faith In Jesus Church at 244-1286 to be included in the program. Attendees are encouraged to wear aloha attire and lei.

Congregation to mark Yom Hashoah
The Jewish Congregation of Maui’s remaining Passover services and Yom Hashoah – Holocaust Memorial Day – are as follows:
* 10 a.m. today – Pesach 7th Day Service.
* 6:30 p.m. today – Pesach 8th Night and Shabbat Service.
* 9:30 a.m. Saturday – Shabbat and Pesach 8th Day Service (including Shir Hashirim/Song of Songs and Yizkor – Memorial Service).
On Wednesday, Jews around the world will be observing Yom Hashoah by memorializing the murder victims of the Nazis, among them more than 6 million Jews. The following observance will take place:
* 6:30 p.m. Wednesday – Short prayer service.
