Reservations for Passover Seder
People wishing to attend Passover Seder on April 10 with the Jewish Congregation of Maui at Beit Shalom in Kihei are asked to make reservations by Sunday. The Passover Seder will include a recounting of the Jewish exodus from Egypt and a four-course dinner with traditional foods, stories and songs. The Seder will be led by Rabbi David Glickman.

The Jewish Congregation of Maui will be holding Passover and Shabbat Services and its annual Community Seder as follows:
* April 10 -- 10 a.m., Chametz burning at synagogue; 6 p.m., evening service; 6:30 p.m., Community Seder (outdoors).
* April 11 -- 9:30 a.m., Pesach 1st Day Service inc. Tal/prayer for Dew; 7 p.m., evening service, Count 1st day of Omer.
* April 12 -- 10 a.m., Pesach 2nd Day Service.
* April 14 -- 6:30 p.m., evening Shabbat Chol Hamoed Service.
* April 15 -- 9:30 a.m., Shabbat Chol Hamoed Service inc. Shir Hashirim/Song of Songs.
* April 16 -- 6:30 p.m., Pesach 7th Night Service.
* April 17 -- 10 a.m., Pesach 7th Day Service; 6:30 p.m., Pesach 8th Night Service.
* April 18 -- 9:30 a.m., Pesach 8th Day Service and Yizkor Memorial Service.
Beit Shalom is located at 634 Alulike St., at the corner of Kaonolulu and Alulike streets.

Hanamatsuri event takes place Sunday
The Maui Hanamatsuri Association will hold its annual Hanamatsuri event on Sunday at the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center in Wailuku. The day's events will begin with a 9 a.m. service. Games, prizes, entertainment and a potluck lunch will follow the service.
Hanamatsuri, commemorating the birth of Shakyamuni Buddha 2,500 years ago, is one of the most celebrated observances in the Buddhist traditions. Sponsoring temples include the Kahului Hongwanji Mission, Kahului Jodo Mission, Makawao Hongwanji Mission, Wailuku Hongwanji Mission and Wailuku Jodo Mission.

Visiting pastor to lead free class
Pastor Matt Bennett from Collingwood, Ontario, will teach a free class about cross-cultural communication at Faith in Jesus Church in Wailuku on Wednesday, Thursday and April 8.
Bennett has mentored children and youths, led evangelistic missions to several nations and taught in Bible schools. He has served as a pastor since 2000 in both the United States and Canada.
The Wednesday and Thursday classes will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and the April 8 class will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The church is at 432 Waiehu Beach Road.
In addition to attending these free classes, people are invited to join the Transformation School of Ministry and earn an associate degree in two years. Classes can also be audited at a discounted rate. For more information, call the church office at 244-1286.
