Mass planned at St. Joseph Kaupo St. Joseph Catholic Church at Kaupo will celebrate its second Mass of the year at noon Sunday. The church is located between Mileposts 33 and 34 on Piilani Highway — the road to Kaupo. There will be a potluck meal and fellowship after Mass. Pukalani Baptist Church is offering a free program from 5 to 7:30 p.m. June 24-28 for children who have completed preschool-5th grade. Keiki can join the program, “In The Wild,” for a fun adventure and to learn about some “amazing encounters with Jesus.” Free dinner will be offered from 5 to 5:30 p.m., followed by the program at 5:30, including games and activities. The Transformation School of Ministry has announced that June’s class will be taught by Pastor Jay Pike from Oklahoma. The class will be on the “Spiritual Formation of a Leader.” Classes are held at Faith in Jesus Church in Wailuku from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. June 8. Degree students work toward an associate degree in ministry and pay $150 a semester, which is three classes. Audit students pay $50 a semester and don’t have to worry about homework. The community is invited to celebrate Vesak Day (the birth of Buddha) at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Chua Tu Hanh Vietnamese Buddhist Temple in Kahului. There will be a short, guided sitting meditation followed by a dharma talk by the Venerable Chan Phap Dang, the first disciple of Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh of Plum Village French temple in France.
