IN THE KITCHEN . . . As usual, The Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui did a stellar job on the Noble Chef benefit for Maui Culinary Academy. About 330 people enjoyed the elaborate Italian party.

MCA’s Chris Speere says that, “Noble Chef owes its success to industry and community partners, local chefs and wine merchants.” whose generous contributions make it possible to transpire. A case in point is that MCA student Bernadette Bautista received $5,000 and the Tylun Pang Aspiring Chef Scholarship named after Fairmont’s famous executive chef and cookbook author.

Speaking of winners, Chef Joey Macadangdang of Roy’s Kaanapali came on strong for a three-peat win at the Master P-Noy Chef Contest at the Maui Fil-Am Heritage Festival on Saturday at Maui Mall.

Three-peat means he’s won the event three times over a three-year period. Kudos also go to chefs Riko Bartolome of Montage Kapalua Bay and Isaac Bancaco of Ka’ana Kitchen for doing a stellar job.

In regards to things “three,” I hear that Three’s Bar & Grill in Kihei is ready to book your holiday parties. You may stage your large party in the restaurant’s Surf Lounge for up to 80 people for cocktails and pupu stations; and up to 60 people for a sit-down affair.

“We offer discounts, if you book before Dec. 1,” says Kelly Cater, catering event coordinator. “We can whip up traditional holiday fare, sushi, raw bar items, whatever you want.” To book, call 268-1063.
