FESTIVE AND FUN . . . . It’s December, which means it’s time to celebrate the season. The Willie K concert series today with comic Rodney Villanueva will make you laugh and listen at the King Kamehameha Golf Club’s Waikapu Ballroom.
“It’s going to be fun,” says Willie. “No props, we’re just going to let the talent take over.”
Willie K’s early show is at 10:30 a.m. and includes a lunch buffet. The evening show at 6:30 includes a dinner buffet. Pupu highlights include spring rolls, shrimp with cocktail sauce, spicy buffalo wings and vegetable crudites. You may also sink your teeth into oven-roasted turkey, sauteed mahimahi and herb-crusted pork loin and more by Executive Chef Eddie Munoz. You may enhance it all with carved prime rib of beef.

Another place in central Maui to dine with your friends and family is Maui Beach Hotel, which recently relaunched a Hawaiian Sunday brunch as well as an all-you-can-eat Prime Rib and Crab Buffet on Saturdays.
“Reservations are recommended for parties of five or more,” says the hotel’s Food & Beverage Manager Carol Miyamoto. “We’ve got steamed snow crab legs with drawn butter; teriyaki chicken; shrimp Canton; vegetable tempura; prime rib with au jus and horseradish cream; and desserts, such as the frozen yogurt station.”
Maui Beach Hotel’s Hawaiian Sunday Brunch is also a deal for the whole family, priced at $22.95 for adults and $12 for children 6 to 11. Local favorites include crab and broccoli salad, island poke, lomilomi salmon, kalua pork, chicken long rice and more. Call 877-0051.

BITS AND PIECES . . . Rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Famer Sammy Hagar and HMSHost have just revealed that the winning dish from TNT’s recent cooking show “On The Menu” is the shrimp enchilada stack. It’s now served at Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill at the Kahului Airport. Check it out.
Comedian Kathy Griffin has recently been named Joan Rivers’ replacement on E! Network’s “Fashion Police” with cohost Kelly Osborne. What do these Hollywood types have got to do with Maui, you ask?
“Kathy Griffin showed up at MiGRANT to celebrate her joining the ‘Fashion Police,’ ” says Restaurant Manager Melanie Wicker. “She dined here with Ray Benson of the band Asleep at the Wheel.”
There is a new lad on Maui, Jonathan Polsinelli, who works at Fabiani’s Wailea. As back story, Jonathan’s mom is from Ireland and his dad from Italy. In fact, he was born in Sora, Italy. He then got his masters in hospitality from Athlone University outside Dublin.
The funny part is one of Fabiani’s partners is from Ireland and the other is from Italy. So Jonathan is the new protege. Some people say he’s like the son of Mike O’Dwyer and Lorenzo Fabiani. It’s also his birthday today. So if you dine at the Italian restaurant in Wailea Gateway, please wish him the best.
Tamura’s Fine Wine & Liquors is up and running in its newest location at 841 Alua St., Wailuku. It’s got poke, fresh and local meats and produce.
Besides other existing wine and liquor stores in Kahului and Lahaina, Tamura will also open one in Kihei as well as supermarkets in Wailuku and Lahaina. The latter one will be by the post office.
Hot on the heels of the blessing and ribbon cutting at the new Maui Brewing Co. facility in Kihei on Tuesday, you may sip and celebrate the official launch of Maui-Stone Craft Beverages, which distributes 21 beers and ciders on island. Join MBC’s Garrett Marrero and Stone Brewing Co.’s Greg Koch from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday at Leilani’s on the Beach in Kaanapali for a tap takeover, then follow them to Flatbread Co. in Paia Dec. 19 for more craft beers. The first 100 people get a logo pint glass.
