MUCH ADO ABOUT. . . Wailuku. The county seat boasts a brand new restaurant in the former Asian Star in the Millyard. Miko's Cuisine held its soft opening Friday after it revamped the large space with new floors, walls of canary green and marine blue, fun art, cushy booths and restrooms remodeled to the nines.

The sushi bar and yakiniku tables are works in progress, says Manager Liaka Kaahu. Both should debut by the grand opening in April. Miko's now also serves Korean and Chinese fare and it already has a liquor license. The owners are from Korea.

Savor kal bi, hot and spicy squid, shrimp and vegetable tempura, noodles in black-bean sauce, mandoo, broccoli with beef and much more. Starting today, Miko's hours are 11 a.m. through dinner.

It's been reported that Jersey Mike's Subs is targeting a Wailuku opening in early 2018 in the Maui Lani Shopping Center near Safeway. The chain has more than 600 outlets on the Mainland.
