Hawai'i Seed Fest planned in Makawao
"Hawai'i Seed Fest: Local Seeds for Local Needs" will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Pono Grown Farm, 677 Olinda Road in Makawao.

Blue Zones Project topic of presentation
The Akaku Upstairs Salon Series will host a presentation titled "Secrets to Living Past 100" with The Blue Zones Project from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at 333 Dairy Road in Kahului.
Kaimana Brummel will share the "Blue Zones Kick-Off" video featuring Dan Buettner telling the Blue Zones story. She will then discuss community involvement options to make the healthy choice the easy choice in Kahului and Wailuku. Rotary Club plans Golf Ball Drop
The Rotary Club of Kahului will present its 2017 Michael H. Lyons II Palaka Celebration & Golf Ball Drop at 4 p.m. Sept. 27 at the King Kamehameha Golf Club.
The club also announced that Henry Rice and Hideo Kawahara are the 2017 recipients of The Michael H. Lyons Palaka Award. The award recognizes volunteer service to Maui County nonprofit organizations.
Net proceeds directly fund the Rotary Club of Kahului's Michael H. Lyons II Scholarship Program, providing college scholarships for Maui youths.

'Shop and Score' returns to Times
Times Supermarkets has announced the return of the "Shop and Score" for its 17th year. Through Oct. 17, shoppers can help Hawaii's public and private schools earn their share of $250,000 in Adidas uniforms and sports equipment.
Students, parents, alumni and community members can earn points (1 point per product) for the school of their choice by purchasing participating products (see participating product list at timessupermarkets.com/score) and designating the school of their choice at the time of checkout.
In addition to the athletic equipment and uniforms, American Savings Bank will contribute $25,000 in academic scholarships.

Smart Driver Class set in Kahului
AARP's Smart Driver Class will be offered from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Roselani Place, 55 Papa Ave. in Kahului. The class is designed for drivers 50 years and older, but all adults are welcome. The emphasis is to become more aware of common age-related physical changes, how they affect one's driving ability and how to compensate.
The $20 fee (cash or check) will be collected at the beginning of the class. AARP members receive a $5 discount with proof of membership. Some insurance carriers offer discounts to those who complete the class. Preregistration is requested; call Kaunoa Senior Center at 270-7308.

Fair Photo Salon accepting entries
The Maui Fair Photo Salon is now open for online entries. The Maui Camera Club is again hosting the Photo Salon at the fair. Photographers can enter online until Sept. 28. There are three divisions: youth, open and expert. There are three categories in each division: color, monochrome and photo art.
Entries are $5 apiece for adults and $2 apiece for those 18 and under. For convenience, photographers can pay online with PayPal or a credit card. For information and rules, visit www.mauicameraclub.com.
