Cannabinoid capsules are now available to patients

The Maui News – Maui Grown Therapies has begun providing patients with standardized dose capsules for patients seeking to manage severe, chronic pain without using addictive opioid medications, the company announced.

The marijuana-derivative cannabinoid capsules are made using CO2-extracted cannabis oil-infused organic coconut oil, the announcement says.

Vegetarian, enteric-coated capsules present the release of cannabinoids into the stomach’s acid to ensure maximum absorption, it says. Capsules come in a range of ratios and formulations, including pure THC, CBD and combinations of the two.

Dr. Greg Yim, Maui Grown’s medical officer, said patients can use the capsules for overnight relief of pain, inflammation or nausea.

The company will hold a pain management seminar at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at its dispensary at 44 Pa’a St. in the Maui Lani Village Center in Wailuku. The event will be held in a public reception room, so a medical marijuana card won’t be required. To make a reservation, call 866-7576.

Maui Grown Therapies provides medical cannabis under state Department of Health regulations and oversight.
