Housing subject of professor’s talk

David Callies, a professor at the University of Hawaii’s William S. Richardson School of Law, will give a talk titled “How to Increase Housing Supply on Maui” during a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Maui County Club in Spreckelsville.

The event is being sponsored by the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii and will be moderated by Keli’i Akina, president of the organization.

Callies, who is the author of the book “Regulating Paradise,” attributes the difficulties families face renting or buying affordable homes on the island to overregulation.

Admission is $10 and includes light pupu and sandwiches. For more information, call (808) 591-9193 or email info@grassrootinstitute.org.
