Celebrating a safety net for the ‘broken or tired’
Malama I Ke Ola Health Center Member Service Director Helene Cannella (left, first photo) chats with board President Vanessa Medeiros during Saturday’s 25th anniversary celebration at the agency’s Wailuku facility located in the old Ooka Building (below, second photo). Founded in 1993 and formerly located in Kahului, the health center provides health services for Maui’s homeless, poor and uninsured. “People come here whether they are broken or tired, and we give them life, or we try,” Cannella said. “It’s our job to get the care they deserve and need. We are the safety net of the community.”
