Survey of noncandidate committees shows political activity in Maui County

The Maui News conducted a nonscientific survey this week of a dozen recent noncandidate committee filings with the state Campaign Spending Commission. The active committees were not selected at random. Instead, they were chosen because they appeared to have an interest in Maui County politics and candidates, or particular candidates.

CLARIFICATION

Victorino campaign spending. An amended campaign spending report filed Friday shows that the Alexander & Baldwin Inc. HIPAC donated $4,000 to the campaign of mayoral candidate Mike Victorino. A Maui News survey of noncandidate committees published on Page A4 Saturday reported the discrepancy between the amounts reported by the campaign and A&B. The revised Victorino campaign spending report shows A&B donated $1,000 more than earlier disclosed.
