Aloha Pacific Federal Credit Union has opened a temporary branch at 137 Kalepa Place in Kahului, the credit union announced Wednesday.

The branch opened on Feb. 6 in advance of a permanent branch planned for the Pu’unene Shopping Center later this year. Aloha Pacific, which is based in Honolulu, also has seven branches on Oahu and one in Henderson, Nev.

Aloha Pacific’s Maui team includes branch manager Lili Ramelb, branch supervisor Kerilyn Oshiro, member relations officer Kelsey Chin and member relations specialist Roselyn Mondejar.

All employees of Maui County and members of the Hawaii Government Employees Association are automatically eligible to join Aloha Pacific. These groups are among the more than 2,300 Select Employee Groups whose workers are eligible for membership in the credit union, which requires a small initial deposit into a new savings account.

The temporary branch will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and can be reached by phone at 873-6101. The branch is also part of the CO-OP shared branching network, allowing members of other credit unions that are part of the network to conduct transactions at the branch.

Aloha Pacific also recently partnered with the Maui Federal Credit Union to open the island’s first interactive teller machine, which features the usual functions of a normal ATM as well as access to a live teller through video chat. The machine is installed at the Maui FCU branch at 107 E. Wakea Ave. in Kahului.

Maui FCU’s branch is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The interactive machine will allow for extended personal assistance up to 6 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, and from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

“We understand that our working families are unable to access our services until pau hana hours or over the weekend when we are closed, which is why the ITM installed at our building will be of great convenience,” said Clayton Fuchigami, president of Maui FCU. “Sometimes you have questions a regular ATM machine cannot accommodate, so I welcome all to get familiarized with the technology, especially our members.”
