The Economic Development and Budget Committee will hold a final meeting on Monday to review the fiscal year 2020 budget, the Maui County Council has announced.
The meeting will start at 10 a.m. and is a continuation of ongoing budget deliberations. The full council has until June 10 to pass a budget and its amendments, otherwise the mayor's proposal will go into effect.
Mayor Michael Victorino presented a $781 million budget to the council last month. The working version of the council's budget as of Wednesday was at $832 million -- about $51.1 million more than the mayor's. About $13 million of the proposed increases are in capital improvement projects; the rest are in operating costs. The total includes all proposed increases, whether approved or still pending.
