The pilot of a single-engine Cessna 172 reported fuel problems before making a precautionary landing on the drag strip at the Maui Motorsports Park in Puunene earlier this month, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.
The pilot landed safely without incident at about 4 p.m. April 4, said FAA spokesman Ian Gregor. The FAA is investigating the incident.
Based on the tail number of the plane, the registered owner is Armin Engert of Kahului. Attempts to reach Engert were unsuccessful.
