Firefighters battle a pickup truck fire on the shoulder at the bottom of Old Haleakala Highway in Pukalani at about 1:30 p.m. Friday, witnesses and fire officials said. The 1996 Toyota Tacoma was fully engulfed when Engine 5 from Makawao arrived on scene, said Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro on Friday night. The truck was a total loss. The cause of the fire was undetermined, he said.
