Damage was estimated at $15,000 from a fire that burned a canopy-type shelter and a nearby boat Wednesday in Lahaina, according to the Maui Fire Department.
The fire was reported at 11:19 a.m. at 893 Kuhua St.
Lahaina firefighters arrived on scene and found the canopy, which had items inside, fully engulfed in flames, the Fire Department reported. Lahaina engine company firefighters quickly stopped the fire, which was under control at 11:35 a.m. and extinguished at 12:10 p.m., according to the Fire Department.
The damage was estimated at $5,000 to miscellaneous contents of the canopy-type shelter and $10,000 to a boat that was nearby.
The cause of the fire was undetermined.
