A&B should return water to East Maui streams

1 min read

Certainly the final HC&S harvest of sugar cane on Maui was inevitable; it was fate that they should follow all those other big sugar companies that went before them. The once mighty sugar cane will finally take its last gasping breath, ironically experiencing what many of Maui residents have for so many years.

So long to the choking smoke and dirt clouds as well as that black ash falling everywhere. Thanks for the many decades of pumping a vast assortment of poison and chemicals into our land and aquifers.

Now, do the right thing and return the waters to the East Maui streams. That a large corporation like Alexander & Baldwin can control and dictate what happens to this precious resource should scare the daylights out of everyone. There is no reason for them to continue taking so much water from the East Maui streams, except for pure greed.
