Funding needed to address problems at Kahului library

I have been a patron of the Kahului, Maui, branch (at 90 School St.) of the Hawaii State Public Library since August 1990.

It saddens me to see how long this branch has struggled with air-conditioning issues, resulting in deterioration of microfilm, creating unhealthy fumes being released and, of course, loss of valuable information.

This branch was closed for 10 months in 2010 to rectify this issue. Unfortunately, the air-conditioning issues still continue, with temperatures indoors in the high 80s if there are no trade winds.

This is a very unfortunate situation that I hope someone in the position to allocate funding can find resources to address it.
