My wife and I have been going to Maui for the past 25 plus years. We go because we love the weather and especially the friendly Maui residents.
The cost of Maui condos have increased significantly in the past few years. The cost of car rentals are, by far, higher than anywhere in North America. The new road tax on rental cars that was proposed is ridiculous.
We realize that tourists have an impact on traffic and should pay their fair share of road improvements but not the whole cost. Without tourism, Maui would be in trouble. All we ask is a little consideration before raising all these rates.
Some of our fees should go to improving the washroom facilities on the beaches that tourists and locals use. Kamaole Beach II is in very poor condition
