Vote for candidates who’ll improve living on Maui

As a business owner, I have found that most job candidates come to the interview with an inflated list of their experience. Instead of having candidates elaborate on this list, I ask them what kind experience they have provided others with.

Did your customers experience excellent service? Did you provide a safe and enjoyable work environment experience for your co-workers? Did the organization you worked for experience growth and improved reputation?

With most people, past performance predicts future results. If they created strife, failed to complete projects and left their previous position at their employer’s request, it’s likely that it will happen again. This is true for job candidates and for political candidates.

Politicians work for the people and their campaign is one incredibly long job interview. Voters decide which candidate to hire at the election. Before we vote for an incumbent or returning politician because their name is familiar, we should ask what experiences have they provided us. Did they fulfill their promises? Did they create a better environment? Did they provide excellent service to the people of Maui? Did their employer ask them to leave by voting them out?

Past is prelude, as a leopard cannot change his spots, most people will return to their old ways and will produce the same old results. Many races will be decided in the primary, so vote on Aug. 11 for the candidate who will improve your experience living on Maui.
