Term limits restricted to 5 consecutive terms
I had to write about the article in the June 13 Maui News about “Council candidates challenged.” I am sick and tired of outsiders coming here and trying to insult our intelligence.
The law on term limits is restricted to five consecutive terms. That means five two-year terms in a row, one term after the another five times. Brah, try count.
Riki Hokama served on the council from 1999 to 2008, waited two years, then was elected again in 2010. This is 2018. Why are you bringing this up now?
Joe Pontanilla served for 10 years straight, waited a couple of years, then ran again in 2014. Why didn’t you complain in 2010 and 2014? What is your motive for waiting until now?
Seems like you trying to help the ‘Ohana Coalition in this year’s election. You guys claim to be pono. Like the June 12 letter writer said, for you people, pono is nono, the nono network.
