CEO-type leadership style was very evident

What a disappointing inauguration day. It’s just more of the same ol’ same.

The new council chair is the same as the old council chair; a CEO, not a chair. She announced she had “the votes” to be chair nearly two months ago, and just two days after the election. Yet, her CEO-type leadership style was very evident by the Jan. 2 six-hour meeting. Her proposals not vetted. A lack of consensus over and over again 5-4, 5-4, 5-4, 5-4. Over the past month and a half she had not ironed all of the details with her colleagues, even with four newbie freshmen she brings along in tow. Descent and confusion added to the lengthy meeting. But she ultimately got her way.

And what was our new mayor’s big proclamation on inaugural day? The dump will be open on Sundays. Really? Come on, really?

I look forward to watching the new CEO and the new mayor battle for credit and place blame in the 2022 mayoral race.
