Maui Corporation Counsel Patrick Wong was accused of and arrested for domestic violence of a household member on March 9. Mr. Wong also has a history of gambling, and was unable to provide proof of his so-called earnings to the Maui County Council before his confirmation.
We need new, positive and courageous moral leadership in our Maui government to serve and uplift our community. This is the season of Lent, a call to purify and to repent of sin. Sin, i.e., corruption, hypocrisy and abuse, "disfigures us" as we were made in the image and likeness of God. Let's all pray in earnest and begin to make better choices for ourselves, our families and our community.
