Maui Invite ticket packages to go on sale Tuesday

The Maui News

Ticket packages for this year’s Maui Jim Maui Invitational men’s college basketball tournament are set to go on sale to the general public at 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

Booster tickets (for access to all games for one team) and all-tournament reserve tickets (for access to all 12 tournament games) will be available for purchase online at mauiinvitational.com/tickets or by phone at 1-800-325-7328.

Remaining individual tickets will go on sale at a later date.

This year’s tournament is scheduled for Nov. 20-22 at the Lahaina Civic Center and features California, LSU, Marquette, Michigan, Notre Dame, Virginia Commonwealth, Wichita State and host Chaminade.

Five of the seven Division I teams in the field made last season’s NCAA tournament: Michigan, Notre Dame, Wichita State, Marquette and VCU. The Wolverines made the Sweet 16, while the Shockers and Irish bowed out in the second round.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of Chaminade’s historic upset of Ralph Sampson and then-No. 1 Virginia on Dec. 23, 1982 — the game led to the inspiration for the Maui Invitational.
