• RUNNING

Oct. 21–The Stomp Out Hunger 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk are scheduled for 8 a.m. on Oct. 21, starting and ending at Hale Kau Kau in Kihei. The early entry fee for either event is $20, with a $5 discount for participants under 14 and over 65. The fees will increase to $30 at 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 17 for the 5K and at 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 19 for the walk. Registration can be completed at runsignup.com or by calling 875-8754. Applications can be also be picked up in Kihei at Hale Kau Kau or Maui Tacos, or in Kahului at Jim Falk Motors or the office of Dr. Steven King.

• SOFTBALL

Saturday–The Maui Police Department and the Maui Fire Department will meet in a softball game at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Maehara Stadium in Wailuku to raise funds for the Pacific Cancer Foundation. Admission will cost $5 for adults and $3 for youths 12 and under, or will be free with the purchase of a “Go Pink” MPD or MFD T-shirt or by bringing one canned good to donate to the Maui Food Bank.

• SWIMMING

Sept. 30–The Maui Swim & Fin, a benefit for the Special Olym­pics Maui swim team, is scheduled for Sept. 30 at the Kihei Aquatic Center. Registration is to begin at 8 a.m., and swimming will begin at 8:45. Each entrant must collect a minimum donation of $35, and will receive a T-shirt.
