Wailuku mixed martial arts fighter Kendall Grove lost his third straight bout Friday, falling to A.J. Matthews by split decision at Bellator 193 at the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, Calif.

Grove lost the middleweight fight 30-27, 28-29, 29-28. He fell to 23-18 and has lost five of his last eight fights — the 35-year-old told The Maui News earlier this week that he knows his career is nearing its end and that Friday’s fight could be his last.

Matthews, a friend of Grove’s, improved to 9-7.
