Baldwin High School graduate Vili Toluta’u has signed with the Seattle Seawolves of Major League Rugby, the team announced Tuesday.

Toluta’u was a six-time All-American and four-year captain at Central Washington University. The hooker also played for the USA Falcons at the Las Vegas Invitational.

“Signing with the Seawolves gives me the opportunity to increase my skills and develop my knowledge of the game further so I can be the best that I can be,” Toluta’u said in a news release. “Growing up in Maui, Hawaii, there were no youth teams at that time. But now the game has grown, and I want the youth back home to have something to look forward to, knowing they too can compete at a high-level just like the rest of the United States.”

Toluta’u is the third former Maui Warriors player to sign with an MLR team. Kina Malafu is with Austin Elite Rugby and Mata Mamao is with the Utah Warriors.

The inaugural MLR season opens April 21. On opening day, Austin takes on Glendale at 11 a.m. HST — the game is set to be televised on CBSSN. Seattle opens against San Diego on April 22, and Utah takes on San Diego on April 29.
