Kevin Varner Jr. led a 12-hit attack for the Central East Maui Senior All-Stars in a 9-1 win over Oakland, Calif., on Monday at the Western Regional in the 15-16 age division of Little League.
Varner, a rising senior for state champion Baldwin High School, was 3-for-4 with a double, a run and three RBIs to lead Maui to Wednesday's championship game in Sacramento, Calif.
In the championship game, Central East Maui will take on the winner of Oakland/Southern California.
One more win will send CEM to a third straight Senior League World Series in Easley, S.C., Saturday through Aug. 4.
Haku Dudoit was 2-for-4 with a run and a double for the Valley Isle squad, while Adam Yamashita was 2-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.
Kamulo'okalani Kanaha, Yamashita and Tyrell Ruiz combined on a two-hitter on the mound for Maui. Central East Maui played flawless defense, while taking advantage of five Oakland errors.
In the Intermediate 50/70 division, Central East Maui (3-1) will take on Western of Tuscon, Ariz., today.
