Lahaina’s Summer Macedo cuts back as she competes at the ISA World Surfing Games on Wednesday in Tahara, Japan. Macedo, representing the U.S., took first and second in her sixth and seventh repechage heats, respectively — she was sent to the repechage rounds following a third-place finish in a fourth-round heat earlier in the week. She faces 12-year-old teammate Caitlin Simmers of California and France’s Justine Dupont in the next repechage round — the top two advance.
