Maui girls polo team captures Western Regional championship

The Maui Polo girls team won the USPA Interscholastic Girls Western Regional Tournament last weekend in Indio, Calif.
The team of Kaya Acker, Maya Miller, Sunny Diller and Alana Benz — with coach Herman-Louis DeCoite — went 2-0 in round-robin play Saturday to make Sunday’s final. They defeated Poway 7-1 and South Bay 14-0 before beating Central Coast 8-6 in the championship match and earning a spot in the national tournament, set for March 22-24 in Houston.
Benz was named an all-star for the six-team regional tournament.
