Kamehameha Maui girls edge Seabury for season-opening win

Liana Kanemitsu and Jayda Lum Lung pulled out a three-set victory at No. 2 doubles to help give the Kamehameha Schools Maui girls tennis team a 3-2 win over Seabury Hall on Tuesday in Kula.

Kanemitsu and Lum Lung rallied after losing a tight first set to notch a 6-7, 7-5, 6-2 victory over Seabury’s Stefani Peterson and Linda Schmitt. The Warriors also got wins from top singles players Kaitlyn Ralar and Kayleen Lau to win their first match of the Maui Interscholastic League season.

The Spartans fell to 1-1.

Meanwhile, the Seabury Hall boys improved to 1-1 with a 5-0 win over Kamehameha (0-1).
