Vaught earns honor for second straight week
Kamehameha Schools Maui graduate Montana Vaught was named Northwest Conference Softball Student-Athlete of the Week for the second straight week on Monday.
Vaught, a sophomore utility player for Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore., had four straight multi-hit games in the series win over Pacific Lutheran with two hits in each game.
She hit .615 (8-for-13) with a .688 on-base percentage and 1.077 slugging percentage in the PLU series. Vaught had three doubles and a home run to spark Pacific's offense. Plus, she had six runs scored, seven RBIs and drew two walks.
For the season, Vaught is hitting .455 with seven homers and 30 RBIs in 23 games for the 17-6 Boxers.

Ogden, Doberman have aces at Maui Nui
Judy Ogden of Rio Rancho, N.M., and Neal Doberman of Denver had hole-in-ones earlier this month at Maui Nui Golf Club.
On March 6, Ogden aced the 140-yard seventh hole using a 3 wood. Witnesses were the Simpson family.
On March 10, Doberman used a 4 hybrid to ace the seventh hole from 171 yards out. Mike Yorchak and Ron Morrow witnessed the shot.

Maui Youth Rodeo benefit set for Saturday
The Maui Youth Rodeo Organization's annual benefit event is scheduled for Saturday at Oskie Rice Arena in Makawao.
The rodeo will include team roping, open barrels, open breakaway roping, ribbon roping, ranch sorting and smarty roping.
Sign-ups for the rodeo begins at 8 a.m., with competition starting at 10 a.m. Admission is free.
A pulehu steak dinner starts at 5 p.m. at the clubhouse. The dinner, which includes live entertainment and an auction, costs $15.
