Maui High girls, Lahainaluna boys tennis teams earn pivotal victories

The Maui High School girls and Lahainaluna boys tennis teams each clinched top seeds for next week’s Maui Interscholastic League team championships with wins Friday at Lahaina Civic Center.

The Saber girls (7-1) defeated the Lunas (6-1) 3-2. Maui High, which has finished its regular season, holds the tiebreaker over Lahainaluna, having lost 72 games head-to-head to the Lunas, who have lost 81 to the Sabers.

In the boys match, Lahainaluna (7-0) beat Maui High (5-3) 4-1. The Sabers need Maui Prep to lose to Molokai today in order to claim a spot in the playoffs.
