• UH Maui Master Gardener program's "Fruit Fly Management" classes will be from 11 a.m and 1:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the La Ulu Festival, Maui Nui Botanical Gardens, 150 Kanaloa Ave., Kahului. Contact 244-3242 ext. 228 or mauimg@ctahr.hawaii.edu.

• Maui Ki-Aikido classes for adults and teens with 4th-dan Fincher Sterling will be from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Sept. 24 at the Hannibal Tavares Community Center. Sponsored by County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation. Based on Zen principles, Ki-Aikido is a Japanese martial art which teaches practical self-defense with a peaceful mindset and calmness training through movement. A suggested donation of $40 can be applied to dues if the participant joins the dojo to continue training. For information and registration, call 268-3818.

• Public workshop on meditation for adults and teens' with 8th-dan Christopher Curtis will be from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 7 at Maui Ki-Aikido's dojo, 194 S. Market, Wailuku. Suggested donation $10. • Akaku Maui Community Media's "Introduction to Public Access TV" class with Danny Collins will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept.9 at 333 Dairy Rd., Suite 104, in Kahului. The class will be repeated on Sept. 23. This free orientation to Akaku's facilities, services, policies and procedures provides the foundation for all other video production classes at Akaku. You'll learn why public access TV came to be, how it works, and the role it plays in our community. You will also receive a class handbook detailing Akaku's policies and a tour of the Akaku Studios.
