Letter: Doesn’t know why women wear high heels

I don’t know how women wear high heels. I must say it does look good and it is sexy. Actually, high heels’ origin started with men as early the 15th century. I don’t know how women can tolerate the stress it puts on their feet. If you ask any podiatrist, they will tell you high heels are not good for your feet. When women are young, wearing them is okay. Policing is Maui County Council’s largest proposed expense at $140M next year, a 10 percent increase. As the council deliberates on the 2027 budget, it’s so far missing how to address Maui Police Department’s repeated and ongoing unlawful collaborating with ICE and other tentacles of Trump’s advancing police state. Letter: Concern about trash spread on Maui

I am a student at Lahainaluna High School and I am writing to you today because of my concern about the trash on Maui. Trash can travel through wind gusts, landing in areas where it is isolated and won't be picked up. This free-floating trash, either in populated or isolated areas, if left alone and not picked up, can be fuel for fires. The 2023 Lahaina wildfires can be used as an example. I have been living on Maui with my son Skyler for eight years. Skyler is 14. He loves football basketball and diving. He overcame acute myeloid leukemia at 10 months old and he was born with Down Syndrome. He is the light to my life and he’s taught me more than I’ve taught him. I recently quit my job at the Four Seasons due to long hours and being so unavailable to Skyler. My schedule was never consistent so he started missing his occupational and physical therapy weekly that he so much deserved. Eran Ganot is an excellent basketball coach. His knowledge of the game of basketball is unbelievable. If he went to a big-time conference and able to recruit, he would be successful. Eran made the best he could with the players he had. Can you believe Rick Patino was the coach to two national championships, with Kentucky, Louisville and now the coach with St. Johns, coached at Hawaii?
