Jeanne Shida passed away peacefully in her sleep in Honolulu, on January 11, 2020. Born Jeanne Chiseko Shimada on May 5, 1930, she lived first in Puunene, then Wailuku. A Baldwin High School graduate, she held a bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Hawaii, and a master's degree in Education from the University of Oregon. Throughout her career, Jeanne was committed to education and a determined promoter of Title I and literacy programs.
