Toshimasa James Nitta of Wailuku, Maui, passed away on January 2, 2020 at Hale Makua in Wailuku. He was born on February 5, 1927 to Jengoro and Hisako Nitta. Services honoring him will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1300 Maui Lani Parkway, on Monday, January 27, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. and services at 11 a.m. He will be laid to rest at Maui Memorial Park. Herbert Masanori Tanahara, better known as “Masa” and “Sparrow” to those who grew up with him on Maui and Herb to just about everyone else – one of the “good guys” who enjoyed spending time with his many friends, passed peacefully on Jan. 4 in Honolulu following a brief illness.
