Eleanor X. Gomes, 93 of Kihei, passed away on December 12, 2017 at Hale Makua, Kahului. She was born on August 31, 1924 in Puunene, Maui. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. Theresa Church in Kihei, mass will begin at 11 a.m. A committal service for both Eleanor and her late husband, Valentine E. Gomes will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Maui Veteran’s Cemetery. Eleanor was a grade school teacher at Kahului Elementary School. Mary Shigeko Monden of Kula, Maui, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 16, 2017. She lived a very adventure filled life before and after retiring from Kula Hospital. She traveled to foreign countries and almost every state in America. She learned hula, traditional Japanese dancing, and was an accomplished bowler and karaoke singer.
