Gene Raine, of Kihei, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2017, under the care of Hospice Maui, with loving family by his side. Services honoring Mr. Raine were held at Kihei Lutheran Church where the Raines have been members since moving to Maui in 2013. Nakamura Mortuary assisted with arrangements. Gene Raine was born on March 22, 1937, in Malvern, Iowa, to the late Mr. Charles & Mrs. Rheba Raine. Gene was a Tool Machinist and took great pride in perfecting his craft. Services honoring Mrs. Topinio will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at St. Anthony Church with visitation at 6:30pm, and prayer service at 8:30pm. Florence Fukuyo Yamada, 93, of Kula, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2017 at Hale Makua -Kahului. Services honoring Mrs. Yamada were held privately at her request. Nakamura Mortuary assisted with arrangements. Florence was born on September 8, 1923 in Hilo, Hawaii to Shoichi and Waki Kodama. After graduating from Hilo High school, she met and married William Tetsuo Yamada. Together they would move to Maui, raise five children, and farm for over 60 years. Gary I. Yoshimori, 70 of Wailuku, passed away on July 19, 2017 at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Honolulu. He was born on April 1, 1947. Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Wailuku Hongwanji Mission. Gary was a P.E. Teacher and taught at Lahainaluna High School, and Iao Intermediate School. Abraham “Papa” Aki, 72 of Wailuku, passed away at home on July 26, 2017 under the care of his family and Hospice Maui. Abraham was a Jack of all trades and a master of many however, his greatest accomplishments in life were that as a Diesel Mechanic/Heavy Equipment Operator and a Professional Bass Player with his last group, The Samoan Subway in Florida where they were the highest paid group around.
