The Maui Hotel & Lodging Association is celebrating 38 years of giving back to the community with its annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk on May 14 at the War Memorial Soccer Field.

Last year, over 3,000 walkers gathered for a morning of exercise, camaraderie, food, prizes and entertainment. At the end of the day, a total of $821,520 was raised on Maui. Counting the totals from Lanai and Molokai, Maui County raised $863,268 benefiting 101 nonprofit organizations.

Kickoff events are held throughout the islands to allow participants a chance to learn more about the event, how it works and to pick up their packet that includes information on the Charity Walk, walker forms, posters, shells, flyers and more.

Dates, times and places for this year’s kickoff events are:

* Feb. 22 – 10 a.m., Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa.

* Feb. 23 – 10 a.m., Maui Beach Hotel.

* Feb. 29 – 10 a.m., Wailea Marriott.

* March 2 – 11 a.m., Molokai Hotel Molokai.

* March 2 – 11 a.m., Lanai, The Lodge at Ko’ele.
