Lahaina brush fire extinguished
Lahaina firefighters put out a blaze that burned about a half-acre of brush early Saturday afternoon off of Shaw Street near a homeless shelter and the Lahaina Aquatic Center, Fire Services Chief Edward Taomoto said.
Two companies and a water tanker crew from the Lahaina fire station responded to a 12:55 p.m. alarm and found a 200-foot section of brush burning in a vacant lot 50 feet from Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Center on Ipu Aumakua Lane, he said.
The blaze was under control at 1:12 p.m. and extinguished shortly after 2 p.m., he said.
No injuries were reported, and there was no damage to structures, Taomoto said.
