Kula Hospital will be continuing its paid training program for those interested in becoming a certified nurse aide.
In its announcement Friday, Kula Hospital said the program is open to anyone with a high school diploma or GED certificate. The training will take place at Kula Hospital over six weeks on Fridays and Saturdays and will begin in early November.
Accepted students will be paid for the duration of the training and after successful completion will be offered full-time employment at Kula Hospital as a certified nurse aide.
Program requirements include excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal relations and customer service, as well as a demonstrated ability to provide culturally sensitive and age-appropriate care. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
Details about the program can be found at www.mauihealthsystem.org/careers. Interested applicants should search for job number 834320 or call Talent Acquisition Consultant Jenel King at (808) 763-1849.
The certified nurse aide training program is part of the Maui Health System’s “grow your own” initiative, which includes a partnership with UH-Maui’s College of Nursing, as well as a number of advanced medical training programs offered to current Maui Memorial Medical Center employees.
Since its inception in July 2017, Maui Health has hired more than 100 students from University of Hawaii Maui College Nursing Program.
“We’re excited to continue this program and hope that this helps encourage people to explore a new career in health care so we can continue to build a sustainable workforce with talented members of our own community,” said Kerry Pitcher Sr., director of long-term care and critical access at Kula Hospital and Lanai Community Hospital. “If you have a passion for serving and caring for others and want to make a difference in many lives, we encourage you to apply.”
