Bail was set at $1,000 for a Waiehu man who was arrested last week for allegedly assaulting another man with a stick.

Charleston Koko, 35, was charged with second-degree assault.

The victim reported being assaulted at the beach off Waiehu Beach Road at 12:30 a.m. Thursday when Koko went to the other man’s tent and told him to come outside, according to a declaration filed in court to support the charge. Koko hit the other man multiple times on the head and left forearm, the man told police.

The victim was transported by medics to Maui Memorial Medical Center, where he was treated for abrasions to his left forearm and a contusion on his head, according to police.

Koko was arrested at the scene.
