Exercising her freedoms
First photo: Wailea resident Zenny Torres drops her ballot into the ballot box at the Maui County voter service center at Velma McWayne Santos Community Center in Wailuku on Tuesday afternoon. “It’s important that we vote,” Torres said. “We don’t want to give up our freedoms.” There are three voter service centers in Maui County: the Velma McWayne Santos Community Center, the Mitchell Pauole Center in Kaunakakai and the Lanai Community Center. All are available for in-person voting, same-day voter registration and ballot drop-offs. They are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Saturday and on Monday and from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Election Day. There also are 12 ballot drop-off boxes around Maui, most accessible 24 hours. For more information visit elections.hawaii.gov.
