First photo: Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center Marketing and Exhibitions Coordinator Josephine Bergill-Gentile (right) and Gift Shop and Grant Coordinator Sharona Belcher discuss the mermaid made from a repurposed mannequin that greets visitors to the Hui Holidays gift shop last week. The decoration, made by Maui artist Melody Koerber, fits an underwater theme of bubbles, as in people can reserve times to bring their bubble to shop together in private. The shop featuring local handmade gifts by more than 100 Maui artists, crafters and vendors is scheduled to be open through Dec. 24. Log on to huinoeau.com for details.
Second photo: Works by Paia ceramicist Debbie Brown are on display last week.
