New leaders promoted at Haleakala Ranch Co.
The Maui News
Scott Meidell has been promoted to chief operating officer and John Kreag has been promoted to senior vice president/chief financial officer of Haleakala Ranch Co.
The promotions took effect Wednesday, as part of a succession plan for President and Chief Executive Officer Don Young, who will retire at the end of the year, according to a news release from the ranch.
Luke Estes will join the company Oct. 4 as senior vice president/real estate to round out the new leadership, the news release said.
Meidell joined the company in 2003 and was most recently senior vice president/real estate. Over the years, he has assisted in developing the ranch’s land management activities, including its forestry operation, land planning and entitlements, and oversight of commercial leases.
As chief operating officer, Meidell will have overall responsibility for company operations during the transition period, which will be completed with Young’s retirement and the planned promotion at that time for Meidell to assume the position of president and CEO.
Kreag has been the company’s chief financial officer since 2007. As senior vice president/CFO, he reports to Meidell and has overall responsibility for finance and accounting activities.
Estes, who was born and raised in Kula, also will report to Meidell. Estes has been president and COO of Pono Pacific on Oahu for the past 12 years. He will be responsible for the company’s real estate activity, including the commercial real estate investment portfolio.
Others on the management team are Jordan Jokiel, vice president/land manager; Greg Friel, vice president/livestock; and Karyn Arakawa, corporate secretary.
