Over 550 citations issued in campaign
Officers from the Traffic Division issued more than 550 citations in the Maui Police Department’s recent Operation Speed Jam Enforcement Campaign, police said on Monday.
Throughout the week of Nov. 8, officers gave out 554 citations, including 354 for speeding. There were 10 citations for excessive speeding, 76 citations for speeding in a school zone, 18 citations for driving with a prohibited mobile electronic device, six for seat belt violations, one for child restraints, 17 for moving violations, 28 for other violations, 44 warning citations and one arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Traffic Division will continue a strong presence on the roadways to enforce all traffic violations, a news release said. The ultimate goal is to make sure those who utilize the roadways are safe, police said.
