The Maui News

Lahaina Quest at the Baldwin Home Museum returns with a series of free keiki and family programs during winter break for school classes.

On Monday, following Christmas weekend, fourth and fifth graders are invited to the Baldwin Home Museum to help solve a 19th-century holiday mystery, according to a Lahaina Restoration Foundation news release. A series of maps, codes, and puzzles will lead participants to a New Year’s surprise. The History Mystery program will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On Dec. 28, second through fourth graders have the oppurtunity to discover the stories of the Baldwin Home through pictures through the I Spy History program, which will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Baldwin Home Museum. From shadow profiles to apps that bring history to life, keiki will explore how light and shadow have captured images throughout history.

On Dec. 29, families with children in first through sixth grades can join the LRF for the Mission: Art program. Using kapa and ‘ohe kapala, participants will create a piece of art together and then make a piece to take home. The program will run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Apuakehau Cultural Park, also known as the Lahaina Public Library lawn.

Space is limited and reservations are required. To sign up or for more information, visit www. lahainarestoration.org/lahaina-quest/ or email Kimberly@lahainarestoration.org.
